Dr. Mercado is the coordinator in the Office of Clinical Practice at CSU Fresno. Mercado
began his career as a social worker where his research focused on creating more equitable
approaches to working with families of color or poverty in the child welfare arena.
In 2014, he became one of the first K-12 restorative practices counselors in California.
He has held many roles including an elementary school principal, middle school deputy
principal, counselor, consultant, and adjunct professor for community college and
the State Prison. Felipe has been mentored by Dr. Siri Sat Nam Singh and is trained
in Dare to Lead™, Emotional Intelligence, and Compassion Cultivation. Dr. Mercado was named the CSU, Fresno Health and Human Services Community Hero, in
2019.
