AAQEP Accreditation 2022

Standard 4 Aspect E

The program is committed to and invests in strengthening and improving the education profession and the P-20 education system. Each program’s context (or multiple contexts) provides particular opportunities to engage the field’s shared challenges and to foster and support innovation. Engagement with critical issues is essential and must be contextualized. Sharing results of contextualized engagement and innovation supports the field’s collective effort to address education’s most pressing challenges through improvement and innovation.

The Single Subject Teacher Credential Program meets the obligations and mandates established by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). The CCTC is an agency in the Executive Branch of the California State Government. It was created in 1970 by the Ryan Act and is the oldest of the autonomous state standards boards in the nation. The major purpose of the agency is to serve as a state standards board for educator preparation for the public schools of California, the licensing and credentialing of professional educators in the State, the enforcement of professional practices of educators, and the discipline of credential holders in the State of California (About the Commission).

In addition, Fresno State will a) continue to fulfill all of the applicable standards of program quality and effectiveness that have been adopted by the Commission; b) cooperate in an evaluation of our program by an external team or a monitoring of the program by a Commission staff member, and c) participate fully in the Commission’s accreditation system, including the timely submission of documents required for accreditation. Regular meetings at the program institutional level have been conducted currently and over the past to ensure that we are updated on CCTC requirements and timelines and are equipped to respond to requests for documents and information (2020 Preconditions Report).

The Single Subject Teacher Credential Program fulfills its requirements through the submission and review of its Pre-conditions and Standards Report and by meeting the accreditation expectations of the CCTC.
