SECREd Garden

An outdoor educational space for students and the community.

The STEAM Experiences through Community, Research, and Education (SECREd) Garden is an outdoor demonstration garden that will be utilized by Fresno State students and community members. The garden will support the growing need for play-based outdoor learning, science experiences, and garden-based education while also providing a space for interdisciplinary research.

The Kremen School of Education and Human Development proposes the development and maintenance of a demonstration garden and outdoor classroom space located on the Fresno State campus in order to address healthy eating habits, play-based learning, early science experiences, teacher training, and community food scarcity issues. Through potential partnerships between the Kremen School of Education, Agriculture Programs, Biological Sciences Department, Food Science & Nutrition, Fresno State is positioned to develop an interdisciplinary community model and training facility that can support the growing need for play-based outdoor learning and science experiences in Birth-Grade 12 education while addressing larger university and community nutrition and food scarcity issues.
