Mathematics and Science Teacher Initiative
Welcome to the Mathematics and Science Teacher Initiative (MSTI)
"It is impossible to be a mathematician without being a poet in your soul". -Sofia Kovalevskaya
Have you ever considered the possibility of teaching math or science and how it could be a fulfilling and impactful choice, not just for you but in the lives of many students? These subjects form the bedrock of our understanding of the world around us. As a math or science teacher, you have the unique opportunity to shape young minds and inspire the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and problem-solvers.
Math and science are not just about numbers and formulas; they are about curiosity, discovery, and exploration. By teaching these subjects, you can ignite that spark of curiosity in your students, helping them see the beauty and relevance of math and science in their everyday lives.
Furthermore, the demand for skilled math and science teachers is high, meaning your expertise will always be in need. You'll have the chance to make a real difference in your community by equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in an increasingly complex world.
Teaching math or science isn't just a job; it's a calling. If you're passionate about these subjects and want to make a meaningful impact on the world, consider devoting your life to teaching them. The rewards are endless, and the impact you'll have on future generations is immeasurable..

Upcoming Events-CSET Test Prep
The California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET) are criterion-referenced tests designed to assess an examinee's knowledge and skills based on established standards, rather than comparing performance to other test-takers.
Each CSET test evaluates a specific set of knowledge, skills, and abilities pertinent to the credential sought. These subject matter requirements were developed collaboratively with committees of California educators and approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
Test materials are aligned with these subject matter requirements and were developed
using resources such as textbooks, California curriculum frameworks, K–12 Student
Academic Content Standards, Common Core State Standards adopted by California, teacher
education curricula, and CTC preparation program standards. The development process
involved consultation with California educators, teacher educators, content specialists,
and assessment experts, and received approval from the CTC.
Fresno State MSTI is hosting multiple workshops to help students achieve passing scores
on both single and multiple subject CSET Test Sets! Click this link to learn more and to register today!
