Student Feedback

Fresno State Student Ratings of Instruction (FSSRI)

Description of Tool & How it is Used (when it is administered, how it is administered) Description of How Data are Used to Inform Program Practices Tool Currently in Use? (Y/N)
The Fresno State Student Ratings of Instruction (FSSRI), was designed by a task force composed of faculty representatives from all 8 colleges, some with professional expertise related to the assessment of learning as well as scale construction. It is based on the principle that we should ask students to report on directly observable instructor behaviors for which there is published empirical evidence that the behavior promotes learning. The individual items are customizable by the instructor so that the most appropriate and beneficial data is collected.
The specific items are available for review on the faculty affairs website. The instrument is made available to students near the end of eachup Survey academic term. Students receive an email with a link which allows them to complete the instrument online.
One or more FSSR student rating is conducted for each of the Ag. Education faculty per semester.  The score reports are accessible in faculty’s online portal one week to 10 days after the grades due deadline. Department chairs have access to written comments to review, and deans offices have access to the reports for placement in personnel files. Ag. Specialist program faculty review and analyze their student ratings each semester. In doing so, areas that can be improved are identified and plans formulated to achieve greater success in those designated areas. Yes

Graduate Follow-Survey

Description of Tool & How it is Used (when it is administered, how it is administered) Description of How Data are Used to Inform Program Practices Tool Currently in Use? (Y/N)
Student feedback is collected from program completers using a graduate follow-up survey that is administered every five years. This survey provides graduates perception of the effectiveness of the program. This data is reviewed by program faculty to identify areas of strength and weakness. Faculty identify strategies to improve the areas identified as weak. Yes
