Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling
Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling
The M.S. in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling is a 60-unit accredited program that aims to prepare professionals who are culturally competent, and able to provide rehabilitation and mental health counseling to clients in an ethical manner while adhering to the Code of Professional Ethics and Scope of Practice for the profession. The program offers two concentrations: Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Our graduate program places a strong emphasis on field experiences to create opportunities to put evidence based practice into counseling settings. Students benefit from hands-on experiences combined with foundational counseling courses to develop counseling skills, leadership skills, and equity driven practices.
Students have the ability to pursue certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and National Certified Counselor, as well as undergo requirements that position them for the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) credential. The program has earned top rankings in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, and is a national leader in hands-on, real world rehabilitation in California and beyond.
The Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) concentration is fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). This accreditation allows you to gain competence in counseling knowledge and skills, personal growth, and development of a professional counselor identity and dispositions. While the Clinical Mental Health Concentration has not received CACREP accreditation as a brand new program, students are still prepared under CACREP standards to ensure a high-quality, well-rounded education for all of our students.
The Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program at Fresno State is
accredited as a Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling specialty area by CACREP. The accreditation
currently runs through October 31, 2027. While the Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental
Health Counseling program is currently accredited under CACREP’s 2016 standards as
a Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling specialty area, the counseling program intends
to seek accreditation for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling track.
