Kremen School of Education and Human Development

Message from the Dean

Dr. Sergio La Porta

Congratulations, Class of 2024! It is with great joy and pride that we celebrate you today. The degree you receive today is a testament to your hard work and intelligence. You are joining a distinguished group of Kremen alumni who serve in education, counseling, and leadership positions throughout this valley and state. You are also joining the Kremen family. We are here to support you as you move into the next stage of your life.

While we recognize your success today, I would also like you to recognize all those who helped you get here. Whether that be parents, relatives, friends, or teachers, please let them know how they helped you reach your goals. The best way to thank them is to be that role for someone else. Encourage and support those people in your life who are trying to achieve their personal goals.

Your degree attests to your achievements, but with it also comes the responsibility to put your knowledge into action. The Kremen School’s mission is dedicated to building strong and just communities through building strong and just individuals. Our graduates have an impact on every stage of human development and you will now also have that impact.

Fresno State started as a normal school in 1911. While the University has grown since then, the Kremen School continues the tradition and mission established 113 years ago of preparing students to serve others through education and the cultivation of human potential. Be proud of who you are and work with confidence to improve yourself, the people you serve, and the place where you live.

Message from the Associate Dean

Song LeeClass of 2024, you did it! Congratulations on this great milestone. As I'm typing this a few hours before your commencement, I want to leave you with a Hmong proverb, “Kev kawm txuj yog kev tsim nuj, kev kawm ci yog kev tsim nqi.” These are words of wisdom given to children and sung in traditional songs to teach the next generations that education is worthwhile and the key to success. Although it may have been time consuming, exhausting, and anxiety provoking during your studies, know that it was worth it! Know that you are worth it! You have now earned the key to your career as a teacher, counselor, or leader in our diverse community.  We wish you the best in all that you do.  We are proud to call you one of our Kremen School of Education and Human Development graduates! Go Bulldogs!
