Dr. Aleman-Tovar was a former special education and inclusive classroom teacher and now prepares future educators through undergraduate, credential, and graduate courses. Her teaching and scholarship are dedicated to advancing equity and inclusive educational opportunities for culturally and linguistically diverse students with disabilities and their families.

Dr. Aleman-Tovar's research examines transition planning, advocacy, and culturally responsive practices for Latino families of youth with autism and developmental disabilities. She has published in leading journals, including Autism, Journal of Policy and Practice in Intellectual Disabilities, and Journal of Developmental and Physical Disabilities.
