Dr. Basurto is a “full” professor, currently serving as the LEBSE Department Chair.  She is also coordinating the Single Subject Teaching Credential Program at Fresno State, and has served on the Academic Senate, has chaired the Educational Equity, has coordinated the online and face-to-face Masters of Arts in Education with an option in Reading/Language Arts Program, a program that was voted in the top 20 Best Online Master’s by Best Colleges, and is the CSU State Faculty Representative for the Chancellor’s Center for the Advancement of Reading/Writing. 
Dr. Basurto's area of expertise is middle school literacies with an interest in reading instruction, transformative literacies, and teacher preparation.
