Dr. Teresa M. Huerta is an Associate Professor with the Kremen School of Education and Human Development in the Department of Literacy, Early Education, Bilingual and Special Education. She received her B.A. from California State University, Fresno, M.A from California State University, San Diego, and doctorate degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education.  She served as a Rodel Post-Doctoral Fellow in the College of Education at Arizona State University.

At Fresno State University, Dr. Huerta serves as the coordinator of the Master of Arts in Education, Option, Multilingual Multicultural Education Program. She currently teaches courses in the area of language and culture, bilingual education, critical pedagogy, and multicultural children's literature.  Her research background includes inclusive teaching practices for emergent bilinguals in urban and rural environments.  Her recent publications include: A Humanizing Pedagogy: Beliefs and Practices on the Teaching of Latino Children, in the Bilingual Research Journal and Project Puentes: Making connections to build biliteracy between Latino homes and schools in Multilingual Educator, 2018 Edition, California Association for Bilingual Education.
