Congratulations on your admission to the PK-3 Credential Program!

We're thrilled to have you on board. As you prepare for the upcoming semester, please take a moment to review the following tasks and important dates to ensure you’re all set. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact your program coordinator.

2 Complete the Equivalency Form

PK-3 offers clinical equivalency options that may allow teacher candidates to not have to be placed in a different classroom from the one they currently work in for their clinical practice experience. You must submit the PK-3 Credential Clinical Practice Equivalency Form to request a review of your professional experience and practicum course background needed to determine if you meet the clinical equivalency requirements.

3 Register for the Mandatory PK-3 Orientation The PK-3 Credential program will hold an orientation for all admitted students to meet the faculty, staff and fellow cohort members. We will present an overview of coursework, clinical practice, available resources, and more! May 5, 2025

4 Register for the Teacher Education Induction Ceremony & Orientation

The Fall 2025 orientation is mandatory for teacher candidates enrolling in their first clinical practice course (LEE 105). This day will include critical information about the Teacher Education Program, the Education Specialist Credential Program, clinical practice experiences, and the Fresno Assessment of Student Teachers (FAST). If you're not enrolling in a clinical practice course this semester, please wait to attend the orientation until the semester you plan to enroll.

Registration opens on March 17, 2025.

Induction Ceremony & Orientation Registration

Orientation will take place in August. A definitive date will be available on March 17, 2025.
5 Complete the Clinical Practice Application

The Office of Clinical Practice (OCP) coordinates placements and assigns university coaches. To communicate your placement preferences, please complete the clinical practice application by the priority deadline date. This also helps OCP identify coach hiring needs for the upcoming semester. All candidates, regardless of clinical equivalency, needs to complete the application. 

  • Candidates are strictly prohibited from making their own school site placements.
  • Students who do not submit their placement application on time will be placed by availability rather than preference.

Applications open on March 17, 2025.

Priority deadline for new admits: March 30, 2025

May 18, 2025

6 Register for courses

Teacher candidates will follow their advising plans to determine which courses to register for in each semester of their credential program. The credential program will provide registration course numbers to teacher candidates prior to the start of the semester. 

Just a quick reminder: while some courses are offered online, this is not an online program.

Registration Support

It is strongly encouraged that candidates enroll at their earliest convenience to ensure classes are open and available.

Candidates must register for their clinical practice course at least two weeks prior to the start of the semester. 

 

7 Purchase Tk20

Teacher Candidates are required to purchase their Tk20 account prior to the start of the semester of their first clinical practice course. A Tk20 account is approximately $110.00+ sales tax (calculated based on the ZIP code entered for the billing address). This is a one-time purchase that will give you access to your student files for seven years.

8 Review the Teacher Education Programs Handbook

The Teacher Education Programs Handbook is a valuable resource providing essential information and guidance throughout your academic journey.

  • The Teacher Education Program Policies apply to all teacher candidates admitted to a Teacher Education Program.
  • The Credential Program Specific Policies apply to teacher candidates admitted to that specific program.
  • Additional Policies & Resources outline expectations of university coaches and mentor teachers, and list university resources available to teacher candidates.

The PK-3 Specific Policies section will be added to the 2025-2026 handbook.

9 Regularly check your Fresno State Portal

Check the To Do List in your Student Services Center periodically as these items will need to be completed before certain junctures in the program depending on the item to be completed.
