Credential Programs

Multiple Subject and Dual Credential Programs

The Multiple Subject credential program at Fresno State is for students who want to become kindergarten or elementary school teachers, K-8. Our nationally accredited and award-winning program prepares candidates to teach elementary school in culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

The Dual credential program allows you to earn your Multiple Subject and Education Specialist (Special Education) credentials simultaneously. The Education Specialist Credential authorizes candidates to teach students with mild/moderate or extensive support needs in grades K-age 22.  Some of the courses are required for both credentials but field placements are unique.

Add a Bilingual Authorization

The Fresno State Spanish/Hmong Bilingual Authorization Program trains future teachers with the skills needed to support linguistically and culturally diverse students. A majority of the courses required for a BAP can also be completed during your undergraduate degree.

Pathways to Earning Your Credential

We provide unique experiences for credential candidates to become more closely connected to students and educators in local school districts. Our dedicated district partnerships are essential in producing quality teachers. Students can earn a Multiple Subject or Dual Credential through evening cohorts, the Teacher Internship Program or our nationally recognized Teacher Residency Programs. Learn more.

Students are also able to begin their credential courses while pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies at Fresno State. For more information, visit the Liberal Studies program page.
