Departments
The Kremen School of Education and Human Development's academic departments cluster faculty by their common academic expertise and scholarly research. Each department offers a variety of credential and graduate programs that are developed and sustained through the collaborative efforts of faculty from multiple departments.

Programs
The Kremen School is dedicated to educating our next generation of leaders. The programs offered provide graduates the qualities necessary to hold positions in school districts, colleges and counseling centers across the region. Along with career opportunities in local, state and national companies and organizations.
The educational options span from undergraduate, credential, graduate and doctoral programs. Offering opportunities for students graduating from high school to highly experienced educational professionals.
B.A. in Liberal Studies
An undergraduate degree program of diversified education that is ideal for future elementary school or special education teachers.
Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Technology
Interested students may pursue a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Technology (CASET). The CASET consists of five 3-unit courses focused on educational technology.
Certificate of Advanced Study in Research Methods
This certificate will prepare you to design instruments and collect information, to analyze quantitative and qualitative data and to communicate research results.
Certificate of Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x Studies in Secondary Schooling
This certificate trains undergraduate and graduate students from all majors and pre-service credential students on teaching and incorporating a Chicana/o/x and Latina/o/x studies based on curriculum in K-12 classroom and school settings.
Reading Literacy Advanced Authorization
The RLAA provides advanced preparation in literacy education and assessment and prepares teachers to address the literacy needs of culturally and linguistically diverse learners within the grade levels authorized by the holder’s valid credential at the classroom and school site. The RLAA takes two semesters to complete.

Education Specialist Teaching Credential
The Education Specialist Credential program prepares caring, competent and reflective candidates to teach children, youth and adults with disabilities in a variety of diverse educational settings in grades kindergarten - age 22.
Multiple Subject Teaching Credential
The Multiple Subject Credential program is for students who want to become kindergarten or elementary school teachers, K-8. Our program prepares candidates to teach elementary school in culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Single Subject Teaching Credential
The Single Subject Credential program authorizes the holder to teach the specific subject(s) named on the credential in departmentalized classes, such as those in most middle schools (7-8 grades) and high schools (9-12 grades).
Advanced Credentials
Preliminary Administrative Services Credential
The Preliminary Administrative Services Credential authorizes graduates to serve in administrative roles in California K-12 public schools such as principal, vice-principal, program director, and any related administrative assignment at all school levels.
Pupil Personnel Services Credential
The Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential is required for employment as a counselor in elementary, middle/intermediate, and secondary public schools in California.
Reading/Literacy Leadership Specialists Credential
The RLLSC provides advanced preparation in literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention and prepares teachers for leadership roles in literacy teaching, coaching, program evaluation, curriculum development, and professional development at the classroom, school site, and district levels. The 18-unit RLLSC takes two semesters to complete and authorizes the holder to work with culturally and linguistically diverse learners from PK-adult.
Graduate Degrees - Counseling
M.S. in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling
Clinical rehabilitation and mental health counseling (CRMHC) is a profession that holistically applies counseling skills to assist individuals with psychiatric, developmental, cognitive, emotional, or physical disabilities to achieve their maximum level of independence, integration, and participation in the community.
M.S. in Counseling, option in School Counseling
Designed for individuals seeking advanced preparation for careers in educational settings (K-12). The School Counseling option is designed to complement the Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPS) curriculum and is intended to enhance preparation of public and private school counselors.
M.S. in Counseling, option in Student Affairs and College Counseling
The SACC program option is designed to prepare individuals for employment as student service professionals in a four-year university and community college. Graduates with this degree option are prepared for employment in the multi-faceted arena of post-secondary education.
M.S. in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling
The MFCC graduate program prepares students to professionally serve the mental health needs of the Central Valley. Students are provided a unique and thorough training experience with both in-classroom and in the field education.
Graduate Degrees - Education
M.A. in Early Childhood Education
This program option offers specialized preparation for a wide variety of positions in educational settings with children from birth through the primary grades.
M.A. in Education, option in Curriculum and Instruction
Designed for teachers and other professionals who desire advanced study in curriculum, instruction, educational psychology, research design and educational statistics.
M.A. in Education, option in Multilingual Multicultural Education
The MME program is designed to provide students with a professional preparation that is research based on linguistically and culturally diverse learners (LCD). Candidates are prepared to view LCD learners and their communities within the context of the social political environment of local communities, schools, and the global society.
M.A. in Reading
The Master of Arts in Reading is designed as an optional, part-time (6 units Fall, 6 units Spring) second year that builds upon the content of the Reading and Literacy Leadership Specialist Credential (RLLSC) and the Reading and Literacy Added Authorization (RLLA) by enabling candidates to further develop their understanding of literacy theory and practice as they engage in original research.
M.A. in Educational Leadership and Administration
This graduate degree is for students interested in K-12 leadership and administrative careers. Students can also pursue a California Preliminary Administrative Services Credential which authorizes graduates to serve in administrative roles in K-12 public schools such as principal, vice-principal, program director, and any related administrative assignment at all school levels.
M.A. in Higher Education Administration and Leadership
The HEAL graduate program is for individuals interested in careers in higher education as well as other educational settings and agencies. HEAL students delve into curricula that examines policies, practices, theories, and current issues related to the postsecondary education pipeline.
M.A. in Special Education
This graduate degree offers advanced preparation in mild/moderate disabilities and moderate/severe disabilities. Graduates gain knowledge in educational, psychological, and political issues that arise when developing collaborative relationships with families, general educators, and other professionals.
M.A. in Teaching
The Master of Arts in Teaching is an online program with a focus on social justice, multiculturalism, and action research. This graduate program is designed for credentialed, practicing teachers working in diverse classrooms and is nationally recognized as an exemplary online graduate program.
Ed.D. in Educational Leadership
The doctorate in education program is designed to support working professionals poised for leadership in P12 schools and districts or community colleges. The 60-unit program of study can be completed in three years of full-time study and leads candidates to earn a Doctor of Education degree.
